GenAI tools to boost your productivity ⚒️

1. Glarity - An Ai extension which summaries YouTube video’s and google searches. These were our initial views:

✔️User-friendly interface, accurate transcript, decent high-level (very high level!) summary.

Summary not fit for purpose - the result was disappointing. I attempted to condense a one-hour presentation to highlight the key discussion points. Unfortunately it was summarized into a small paragraph which didn't give me much….

2. InboxPro - Boost your mail productivity with AI and automation. It offers a range of features from generating professional emails, summarizing emails, scheduling, I-powered email assistants and so on. We have included a snap of the plug-in below.

Now, lets take a look at the latest trends in GenAi 📈

It's an exciting time for AI! Although chatbots are pretty popular these days, its really the APIs which are making it easier to incorporate different types of generative AI into enterprise applications.

According to PwC's Greenstein, "While people are using ChatGPT for many things, from coding software to bedtime stories for our children, it is the APIs that make ChatGPT possible that are so interesting."

So, what's the bottom line? It means that thanks to these APIs, any application, regardless of whether it's a web application, mobile app, a cloud-based platform or enterprise software, can now leverage the power of generative AI to add value to its features.

GenAi sector focus of the week 🔎

Two weeks ago, the Harvard Alumni Association hosted an insightful panel discussion titled "The Future of Generative Ai”. We were privileged to have exceptional panelists, who shared their valuable insights on the impact of generative AI in research, education, work, and society.

Today, we want to hone in on education, and specifically, the remarks made by panelists Latanya Sweeney and Rebecca Nesson. Firstly, Nesson emphasized the crucial responsibility of educators to remain current with new tools and technologies that enhance their profession.

In our continued exploration of the role of GenAI in education, it is evident that using these tools is essential for educators to remain competitive and succeed in the ever-changing landscape. Rather than resisting their use, we should embrace these technologies to enhance the learning experience for both students and educators. By doing so, we can unlock their full potential and pave the way for a brighter future in education.

A fascinating analogy was drawn between a student who had access to ChatGPT and attended class and another student who did not. It was suggested that this comparison should inherently reveal a significant knowledge gap. If this is not the case, it could indicate a problem with the education system or the implementation of the technology.

The panel discussion also raised a crucial point about implementing policies regarding the use of these tools. Should decisions about their use be made at a faculty or institution level? A panelist shared their preference for making these decisions at the faculty level due to the variations in each faculty's unique requirements. What are your thoughts on this matter?

Finally, Latanya Sweeney shared an interesting example about one of her students who asked ChatGPT to produce a research paper on data privacy written by Latanya Sweeney. While the results were impressive, it was not an experiment that Sweeney had conducted. This example highlights the inherent limitations of AI-generated content and the potential for false or misleading information. It raises important questions about the ethical use of such tools and the need for critical evaluation of their outputs.

It's important to keep in mind that even with all its advantages, generative AI has limitations, and it's essential to audit its outputs consistently.
